The Institute of Technology (WIT) at Wollega University successfully conducted a two-day Internal Curriculum Review Workshop from May 28–29, 2026, at Wollega University. The workshop was organized with the objective of collaboratively strengthening and improving existing academic curricula by ensuring their relevance, effectiveness, alignment with national educational standards, and compliance with the curriculum frameworks of Universities of Applied Sciences.
During the workshop, internal review processes were successfully conducted for five undergraduate programs that had completed their first draft curricula. The reviewed programs included:
B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering
B.Sc. in Urban Planning and Design
B.Sc. in Computer Science
B.Sc. in Surveying Engineering
B.Sc. in Food Engineering
The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including internal reviewers from the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, academic staff members, members of the Curriculum Review Committee, and other invited participants. Their active engagement and professional contributions enabled a comprehensive evaluation of the curricula and the identification of areas requiring improvement.
The discussions and review sessions generated highly constructive and valuable feedback that will significantly contribute to enriching the curricula, enhancing their quality, ensuring their completeness and relevance, and fulfilling the minimum standards required for subsequent external review and accreditation processes.
The Institute of Technology (WIT) extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all internal reviewers, academic staff members, participants, and supporting staff who devoted their valuable time, expertise, and constructive input throughout the workshop sessions. Special acknowledgment is also given to the internal reviewers from the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences for their professional commitment, critical evaluations, and insightful recommendations, which greatly contributed to strengthening the reviewed curricula.
The workshop officially concluded with a closing speech delivered by Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, Scientific Director of the Institute of Technology. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation to all reviewers, participants, and staff members for their commitment and constructive contributions toward the success of the workshop. Dr. Endalkachew further encouraged departments and academic staff to carefully incorporate all feedback and recommendations obtained during the workshop into the subsequent stages of curriculum improvement, particularly during external review processes and future endeavors toward national and international accreditation.
