Department of Construction Technology & Management
Construction Technology and Management is an important application of science, which plays a major role in the social and economic development of modern society. To perform this role effectively, construction engineers require a broad understanding of scientific principles, knowledge of materials, applied knowledge of civil engineering, and the capacity to analyze and synthesize to arrive at solutions. This requires research, teamwork, leadership, and business skills. It has to be situated in a social, economic, and environmental context that reflects the reality within which the construction engineer and manager finds him/herself.
In Ethiopia, Construction Technology and Management have a great role to play in supporting economic development and contributing towards the improvement of the living standard of the people. This role and contribution input is at different geospatial scales, from the Federal to the local, in both an urban and a rural context. As a country that is moving into a rapid phase of growth, the contribution that Construction Technology and manger can make, to ensure that this growth is sustainable. It is therefore of vital importance that Construction Technology and Managers.

Vision of the Department
Construction Technology and Management department shall become a model department in the country which emphasizes economic development and department-enterprise cooperation, and model for excellence in teaching, learning and applied research to play a leading role in building of the nation.

- To produce well-balanced engineers with up-to-date engineering knowledge & skills, and high aspirations to excellence, poverty alleviation and leadership,
- To conduct and foster creative research by addressing the needs of industry, government and the scientific community, and To render consultancy services to the community.
Objective of the Department
General Objective
The primary objectives of Graduate program is to train high level professionals capable of solving practical engineering problems in the various fields of studies independently and develop in the process the research experience of the staff members of the department. Objectives behind the program is to encourage young and talented minds to enhance their knowledge base in the new areas of soil and rock engineering so as to carry out research, design, develop and manage structures in the soft and hard rock regions.
Admission Requirements
As per the Ethiopian Ministry of Education guidelines and requirements. The candidates should successfully complete the preparatory programme and pass an entrance examination given by the department/institute.
