A two-day training workshop focused on the Development and Delivery System of Online Exams was successfully held on April 29 and 30, 2025, at Wollega University Institute of Technology. The training was organized by the INDMET Project in collaboration with the Institute of Technology and supported by Norway through the NORHED II program.
The training began with an opening speech by Dr. Ginbar Ensermu, Dean of the Institute of Technology. In his remarks, he warmly welcomed the participants and shared the objective of the training, emphasizing the importance of embracing digital tools in higher education.
Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, INDMET Project Coordinator at Wollega University, introduced the participants to the INDMET Project, its key goals, and achievements. He also gave a walkthrough of the INDMET website and its e-Learning System. The system’s features, including course creation, student enrollment, and automatic generation of course completion certificates, were explained in detail. Dr. Endalkachew encouraged the use of this system particularly in distance and continuing education programs, where managing learning and assessments digitally can bring efficiency and flexibility.
The technical training was led by Mr. Bodena Terfa, who guided participants through how to use the INDMET e-Learning platform. He demonstrated how to create online courses, manage content, enroll students, configure exams, and handle exam delivery within the platform. His sessions helped participants become more confident in using the system to support online learning and assessments.
Mr. Tadele Debisa supported the practical part of the training by assisting trainees step-by-step as they worked on creating their own online exams. He provided close guidance to ensure participants could apply the skills they were learning.
At the end of the training, participants presented online exams they developed during the hands-on sessions. They reflected on what they had learned and gave feedback about the training experience. Many expressed that the training helped them understand how online exam delivery can be more effective and manageable.
In the closing discussion, Dr. Endalkachew encouraged instructors and university leaders to use the system to reduce the workload and costs associated with traditional paper-based exams. He emphasized that digital exam systems not only save resources but also simplify the entire exam process.
Dr. Ginbar Ensermu expressed his appreciation to the INDMET Project for organizing the training, to the trainers for their dedicated facilitation, and to the trainees for their active participation. He encouraged everyone to make use of the knowledge gained and apply it in their day-to-day academic work.
