INDMET Project Office Conducted a Training for Wollega University Remedial and First-year Female Students on February 14, 2025.

The INDMET Project, supported by Norway, organized an impactful Life Skills Training program for remedial and first-year female students. This initiative aimed to empower young female students by equipping them with practical tools to overcome challenges and excel in their academic pursuits. The training program opened by Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, the INDMET Project Coordinator, who highlighted the overarching goals of the project and its essential role in advancing gender mainstreaming. Dr. Endalkachew encouraged the students to persevere on their academic journeys, emphasizing that education is a pathway to success and personal empowerment, while also motivating them to strive for excellence in future scholarship opportunities.

Following the opening address, Dr. Alima Jibril led an engaging session focused on the concept of life skills. She provided valuable insights into the differences between hard and soft skills and stressed the importance of self-awareness, self-concept, and self-confidence. The practical advice offered during her presentation was designed to help the students integrate these essential skills into their daily lives, enhancing both their academic and personal development.

The training continued with a session facilitated by Mrs. Meskerem Derese, who shared strategies on time management and study skills. Her session explored goal setting, effective time management techniques, and methods for mastering study habits, providing students with actionable strategies to better manage their academic responsibilities. Mrs. Birtukan Asefa further enriched the program by discussing the Journey of Success. She defined success as a blend of external achievements and internal growth, and offered guidance on how to develop a personal roadmap to success, emphasizing the characteristics and practices of successful students.

The program concluded with the selection of female student representatives who will serve as peer mentors and advisors, fostering a supportive academic community. This Life Skills Training program stands as a testament to the INDMET Project’s commitment to empowering young women through education, building a strong foundation for both academic excellence and personal growth.
