INDMET Conducted Short Training, Guidance and Counseling for Female Students at Catholic Kidane Mihiret Secondary School

The INDMET project office organized and hosted a short training session on guidance and counseling for female students at Catholic Kidane Mihiret Secondary School. The event aimed to empower young female by equipping them with practical tools to overcome challenges and excel in their academic pursuits.

The program commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, the INDMET Project Coordinator at Wallaga University. He highlighted the overarching goals of the INDMET project and its critical role in advancing gender mainstreaming. In his remarks, Dr. Endalkachew encouraged the students to persevere in their academic journey, emphasizing education as a pathway to success and personal empowerment.

Dr. Alima Jibril, a distinguished academic, shared her inspiring journey of overcoming gender-related challenges to achieve academic excellence. Her story deeply resonated with the students, offering them practical advice and motivation. In addition, Dr. Alima conducted a guidance and counseling session, providing strategies to help the students navigate both educational and personal challenges effectively.

Mrs. Meskerem Derese facilitated a session focused on overcoming barriers and fostering a growth mindset. Through sharing her personal experiences, she demonstrated how cultivating a positive mindset can lead to resilience and achievement. Similarly, Mrs. Hawi Regasa conducted a short yet impactful training on time management, equipping the students with essential skills to optimize their study schedules and balance various responsibilities effectively.

The program concluded with an awards ceremony to honor academic excellence. The top three female students from grade 11 and the top three from grade 12 were recognized for their outstanding performance. Each student received a cash prize, presented by Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, who commended their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

The program successfully achieved its objectives, providing the students with valuable skills, inspiration, and recognition. It showcased the INDMET project’s commitment to empowering young female and fostering gender equality in education.
