October 28, 2025
The Department of Manufacturing Engineering at Wallaga University successfully hosted the MSc Research Presentation and Evaluation Day on October 28, 2025. The program was funded by the INDMET project through the NORHED II initiative. As part of this project, six TVET teachers and four industry engineers were admitted to the MSc Summer Program in 2022 with the aim of strengthening technical teaching capacity and industrial expertise in Ethiopia.
Among the ten MSc students enrolled under the INDMET project, eight candidates completed all academic requirements and presented their thesis research as a final milestone toward fulfilling their Master of Science degree. Their success reflects their dedication, resilience, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
The students’ thesis work tackled real challenges in modern manufacturing—such as production system optimization, industrial automation, and sustainability. Their findings demonstrated how engineering knowledge can be meaningfully applied to improve industrial performance and support capacity development in TVET institutions, contributing to national growth and technological competitiveness.
Internal and external examiners engaged with each presentation through thoughtful feedback and professional discussions. The atmosphere was encouraging, respectful, and academically stimulating—celebrating the progress and achievements gained through years of hard work.
This moment stands as a source of pride for the School of Mechanical Engineering and Wallaga University as a whole, reinforcing its mission to produce competent, ethical, and innovative engineers who are capable of transforming industry and education sectors in the country.
In closing, the School of Mechanical Engineering and the INDMET Project Office extend heartfelt congratulations to all the MSc candidates. Your achievements are an inspiration to the university community. We are confident that the knowledge and skills you have gained will support you in making meaningful contributions as you continue your journey into teaching professions and engineering careers.
