CET Workshop Underway

The “Research Training and Curriculum Review” workshop, which was organized by the College of Engineering and Technology at Wallaga University in collaboration with the INDMET Project Office, began today, April 3, 2023.

College of Engineering and Technology (CET) of our University collaboration with INDMET Project office has today (3 April, 2023) began training and curriculum review workshop which is to be held between 03-11 April, 2023.

Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, Dean of CET, warmly welcomed all trainees to Research Training and Curriculum Review Workshop organized by INDMET project office in collaboration with College of Engineering and Technology. The Workshop is planned to be held for two weeks long with a series of gaped lectures by the honorable guest Prof. Hirpa Lemu from Stavanger University.

The training part the workshop focuses on two basic issues: Research Design/Methodology and Research Grant Writing. According to the Dean of t CET, the training is supposed to address key issues of research design, methodologies and others, which would improve the research gap of our staff in general and postgraduate students in particular.

He has also added that the training is an extended part of the training that was held previously on August 1/2022 on the same topic (Research Grant Writing) by Professor Hirpha Lemu.

Dr. Melka Hika, Academic Affairs Vice President of our University on his behalf stated that INDMET project is one of the successful and fruitful project as capacity building efforts to the University’s staff and students and thanked professor Hirpha for trusting our University with execution of the project and also expressed his gratitude to College of Engineering and Technology for implementing it successfully according to its guideline.

The trainer, Professor Hirpha is currently serving as a Professor of Mechanical Design Engineering at University of Stavanger, Norway. He has published and co-published over 200+ articles in reputed journals and conference proceedings.

His current active projects include:

1) Simulation driven design optimization

2) Design and material characterization for additive manufacturing

3) Additive manufacturing in healthcare applications and

4) INDMET project in collaboration with Wallaga and Jimma Universities.

Prof Hirpha Lemu is currently serving as Editor for Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory (ELSVIER journal), Guest Editor for Materials journal (MDPI) for a special issue entitled “Advances in Modeling and Analysis of Additive Manufactured Materials”, Reviewer of many International Journals and Scientific Committee member of several International Conferences.

As a part of this workshop, curriculum review is also included based on requests from departments in CET for the review process. Selected both MSc and PhD curriculums (existing) will be reviewed by invited external reviewers, internal reviewers and all concerned staff members of the University.
