Annual Meeting (Online) of INDMET Project Implementation for the Academic Year 2021 Held
On April 29, 2022, Wollega University and partners, Jimma University, University of Stavanger, Norway, had an annual digital meeting on the collaborative project: “Institutional Network for Design and Manufacturing Education and Training (INDMET).”
The meeting started with a welcome speech and round table introduction by Prof. Hirpa G. Lemu, INDMET Project Leader. Prof. Hirpa briefed about the project goal, six main interventions, 2021 project plan and implementation status. Following this, Anette Løken, senior advisor at NORAD appreciated the entire project teams, project progress and implementation mentioning annual reports and auditing results that NORAD received.
Dr. Endalkachew Mosisa, Engineering and Technology College Dean and Project Coordinator at Wollega University, presented the annual progress report with respect to planned activities for 2021. In his prseentation, he mentioned some challengesthe project gone through so far and future concerns in the course of project implementation.
Later, Dr Mesay Alemu, project coordinator at Jimma University also presented the status of INDMET implementation at Jimma University. As per the meeting schedule Mr. Naol Desalegn from Wollega University invited on behalf of all PhD candidates admitted to the INDMET project at both institutions (Wollega-Jimma University) to present their status and challenges in the course of their studies. Mr. Naol Desalegn thanked all project teams for such opportunities created for both institutions and stressed on the mobility restriction of the Norwegian government.
Besides, the detailed Finance report was presented by Grethe Karin Kaland, Project Accountant, University of Stavanger. The report for implementation of the project was presented by Magdalena Brekke, Senior Advisor, International section, UiS.
During the discussion part of the meeting, each participant from partnering institutions was given the floor and they expressed the importance of taking forward the project. Dr. Melka Hika, Academic Affairs V/President of Wollega University appreciated the remarkable job done by the project teams and promised to support by considering the project as an integral part of main University’s activities. Dr. Zeleke Teshome, University-Industry Linkage Director our University, on his behalf, highlighted the North-South cooperation as good practice which the INDMET project had accomplished even for securing additional funds.
The project leader thanked all and concluded the meeting.
